Motorcycle skills challenge

Are you as good a driver as RCMP motorcycle officers?

You can find out and test your slow speed driving skills in the 2nd annual Tri-Cities Motorcycle Challenge which is coming up on June 2.

The hitch is this is a slow-speed challenge.

Motorcyclists can compare their slow-speed riding skills against some of the RCMP's top motorcycle officers and learn a thing or two along the way.

"This event allows motorcycle riders to test their mettle in a low-stress and friendly environment", says Constable Matt Ericson with Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services. "It was busy last year and we had a great time. We’re hoping for even more riders and fun this year."

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness month, and with warmer weather hopefully here to stay, more riders will be on the road. It is important that both drivers and riders practice safe driving to keep our roadways safe.

All you need to compete is a valid Class 6, Class 6L or Class 8L motorcycle licence (riders with a learners licence must be accompanied by a designated supervisor) and a street-legal motorcycle and appropriate safety equipment.

The race will be held at the ICBC Driver Licensing Office at 1930 Oxford Connector in Port Coquitlam.
