Measles scare at YVR

More measles concerns in B.C., this time in Metro Vancouver including YVR.

Public health authorities have indicated that a patient with the highly contagious virus arrived on a flight Saturday morning.

CTV News is reporting that exposure may have occurred because the passenger was on Japan Airlines flight JL018 from Tokyo to Vancouver.

If you were a YVR between 10:25 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. you may be in danger of being exposed to the virus. The infected patient was also reportedly at the Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Coquitlam on Sunday and the Sun Star restaurant inside the hotel, where the public may have been exposed between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
This individual also visited the Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby on Tuesday before finally getting checked out.

The man is now in voluntary isolation and lives in the Fraser Health region.

If you or anyone you know visited those locations on those dates you are advised to double check your immunization records watch for symptoms of measles and seek medical attention if in doubt.
