The U.S. Navy's most high-tech destroyer arrived in Greater Victoria, Monday, sailing into CFB Esquimalt.
The modern, stealth-designed guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt departed San Diego on Friday. It's the largest and deadliest destroyer ever built for the U.S. Navy, CTV News reports.
The Zumwalt can carry up to 80 Tomahawk and Sea Sparrow missiles, three military drones, two Sikorsky Seahawk helicopters, and has two MK46 cannons and a complement of defensive torpedoes.
It has a crew of 147, plus 28 more in its aviation detachment.
Meanwhile, the Te Mana, a New Zealand Navy frigate, is also en route to Esquimalt.
