Measles case confirmed

A measles case has been confirmed in Metro Vancouver from earlier this week.

Vancouver Coastal Health spokesperson Shaf Hussain told CTV News that VCH was informed on Thursday that a person had been officially diagnosed. The patient is past the infectious period and is not contagious.

The person is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed location, though Hussain said measles treatment can usually be administered at home.

This case is believed to be unrelated to a recent outbreak in Washington State, in which 52 known cases were reported.
