Still searching for cowboy

Madison Erhardt

Search and rescue crews and dozens of volunteers are into day six searching for 32-year-old missing cowboy Ben Tyner.

Tyner, was last seen Saturday at 2 p.m., but it's not known when he rode into backcountry in Merritt.

A horse with no rider and full gear was found Monday afternoon by loggers in the area.

Search efforts continue to be co-ordinated by Nicola Valley Search and Rescue with assistance from SAR members from Kamloops, the Central Okanagan, Shuswap, Penticton, Princeton, Logan Lake, Chilliwack and Surrey.

''Clues and tracks have been found, but no cowboy. The search continued into the night and this morning," said a COSAR member.

Numerous ranchers on horseback, staff from Aspen Planers staff, and Lower Nicola Indian Band have also joined the search.

Ben's brother Jack Tyner took to Facebook on Tuesday saying ''my big brother and my family are in desperate need of prayers! He is big, strong, and tough and we are all staying optimistic. Just please pray that we find him! So grateful to all the search and rescue, volunteers, and cowboys looking. We’re coming for you big brother. I love you!''

Anyone with information or who may have seen a male riding in the Swakum Ridge area west of Merritt Saturday or Sunday is asked to contact Merritt RCMP.
