Fake home security workers

Police are warning people after a group of individuals went door-to-door posing as security firm employees.

Richmond RCMP is investigating after suspicious activity in the Hamilton area where multiple residents had people posing as representatives from ADT come to their door.

The individuals were allegedly asking homeowners about their security systems and in some cases attempted to gain access inside the residence.

“People need to be wary. If someone supposedly representing a company shows up unexpectedly at your house, soliciting personal information, do not tell them anything and definitely do not allow them inside,” says Cpl. Adriana Peralta.

Police learned about the incidents after residents posted the experience on social media.

Richmond RCMP met with representatives from ADT who said the people who were going door-to-door were not associated with their company. 

Any suspicious activity should be reported to police immediately.
