Coquihalla reopens

UPDATE 5:18 a.m.

The Coquihalla Highway has now reopened after being shut down for most of the night and morning.

Environment Canada's weather alert remains in place, however.

They are calling for flurries at times heavy this morning.

Approximately 35 cm of snow has fallen near the Coquihalla summit since last Monday night. Additional snowfall amounts of 5-10 cm are forecast by this afternoon.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

You are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to check DriveBC and Castanet for the latest conditions.
