Above seasonal for weekend

UPDATE 8:42 a.m.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Bobby Sekhon tells Castanet this persistent ridge of high pressure which has been giving warm temperatures for the last 10 days or so will continue through the weekend but then things change.

"Next week the ridge of high pressure breaks down and we will see some clouds and showers as well. So quite a change from what we've been seeing over the last few weeks."

Sekhon says the showers are expected to start on Wednesday and although Halloween is still too far away to make an accurate prediction he says it's possible the showers and cooler temperatures could linger until the end of the month.

As the weekend arrives the weather looks to be golden, much like this mornings sunrise.

This photo, taken by Dale Sitar, shows the spectacular sunrise over Okanagan Lake Friday morning. You can just see the William R.Bennett in Kelowna at the bottom of the frame.

Environment Canada is calling for sunshine and temperatures in the mid-teens this weekend.

The Weather Network's, Chief Meteorologist, Chris Scott says, "autumn is a tumultuous season, famous for wild temperature swings and powerful fall storms. Of course, this fall will include both, but overall we expect a less active and less tumultuous pattern than normal. This means we'll experience a more gentle slide rather than a freefall, as we make the inevitable transition from summer to winter.”

The warmest weather relative to normal is expected here in B.C. west into part of Alberta and from the Maritimes to Southern Ontario.

However, most Canadians can expect a mild fall with near normal or above normal temperatures for nearly all of Canada except for parts of Nunavut, northern Quebec, and Labrador.
