Tent camp eviction notice

Less than a day after moving camp, tent city dwellers in suburban Victoria have been handed an eviction notice.

Campers at Uplands Park in Oak Bay were served with a notice of trespass on Thursday.

"The District of Oak Bay requires you to terminate your encampment of Uplands Park by immediately removing from Uplands Park all tents, shelters and related camping equipment," the notice states.

About 20 campers moved into the park Wednesday night after they were forced from a spot along Pat Bay Highway in Saanich.

Earlier in the day, police handed the campers an invoice for $1,882.65, for costs associated with a previous camp in Oak Bay.

Camp leader Chrissy Brett said they would not pay.
