A woman sleeping in a dumpster was apparently trapped in a garbage truck after the dumpster was picked up along its regular garbage route Sunday morning.
The truck driver saw movement in the garbage, thanks to a camera mounted atop the vehicle, according to officials.
Emergency crews were called to a rural property west of Abbotsford to help rescue the woman.
A witness, Stan Pilat, said it all unfolded near his home, and that he saw the woman climbing to the top of the truck.
"She was yelling, she was trying to get out and she was stuck," he said. "It's a good thing [the driver] stopped."
A spine board was used by firefighters to carry her out, and they said she may have broken a hip.
The driver believes the woman may have been unknowingly picked up in Chilliwack.
She is believed to be in her 30s or 40s.
