Coast-bound plane vanishes

Crews are searching for a small private plane that vanished off radar in B.C.'s interior on Friday.

The plane departed from Edmonton and was heading to Chilliwack, according to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre who was called in after that plane didn't arrive as planned.

Two aircraft searched on Friday night along a large corridor of Highway 5, between Chilliwack and Valemount.

On Saturday, two Royal Canadian Airforce planes and seven Civil Aviation Association planes were taking part in the search through mountainous terrain.

“We’re working hard to try and track down this missing aircraft. As long as we think someone has survived, we are going to keep looking,” Lt. Navy Tony Wright told CTV.

It's believed the pilot was a man, but it's currently unclear how many people were on board the plane nor any of their identities.
