Mail bomb injures man

A Vancouver Island man was seriously injured Tuesday when a mail bomb exploded at his home.

Police are investigating the explosion at the Port Alice home, which investigators believe was a targeted attack.

The victim received serious, but non-life threatening injuries, when he opened a mail package that had been delivered to his Northern Vancouver Island home.

Police say explosive experts, a bomb-sniffing dog and Canada Post are involved in the investigation.

The RCMP have not released any information about any possible suspects or motives for the attack.

Anyone with information about the explosion has been asked to call the Port Hardy RCMP at 250-949-6335.
