Wigs for sick kids stolen

A collection of wigs set aside for cancer patients at BC Children's Hospital has been stolen from a Vancouver wig shop.

On Sept. 7 at roughly 3:30 a.m., Vancouver Police were alerted to an intruder at Eva and Company Wigs at 950 West Broadway. There, officers found that someone had broken in and made off with at least 150 real human hair wigs, valued at $2,500 each.

The suspect is being described as dark-skinned, with curly long, black hair. He was spotted walking away from the wig store carrying a large black garbage bag and wearing a denim or blue jacket.

“It’s possible that someone is in possession of one or more of these wigs, and that they don’t know they’re stolen or that they were meant for sick children,” said Sergeant Jason Robillard, VPD. “We need people to do the right thing and come forward with information.”

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the VPD's investigators at 604-717-0610 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-9477.
