Hold on to your hat! A wind storm is headed our way.
A vigorous cold front will bring gusty winds to the entire Okanagan on Friday.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton at 11:40 a.m., warning residents to prepare.
“Recreational boaters are encouraged to re-visit their boating plans for Friday afternoon and evening,” said the statement.
Residents should be prepared for strong and gusty winds.
“Strong southwest winds with gusts up to 60 km/h are expected ahead of the front on Friday afternoon,” said the statement.
On Friday evening, northerly winds with gusts up to 70 km/h or more are anticipated.
Boaters should also consider anchorages or mooring protected from westerly and northerly winds.
