Ferries cancelled today

BC Ferries has cancelled sailing on Sunday between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

Sailing from the Tsawwassen Terminal at noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., as well as departures from Swartz Bay Terminal at 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., has been cancelled.

According to a press release, a mechanical issue with a propellor on the Queen of New Westminster is to blame.

Travellers will be refunded their reservation fee and will be able to leave at the next available sailing.

"These customers need to check in at the terminal at the check-in time for their original reserved sailing as indicated on their reservation confirmation. This allows the terminal to queue customers in the terminal in the appropriate loading order," states the release.

BC Ferries said if necessary they will make an additional round trip, but they are not sure which vessel will be able to be used.
