A mystery in Richmond has police tinkling the ivories for tips.
RCMP want to know who owns a warehouse full of pianos – which may or may not have been stolen.
Cpl. Dennis Hwang says police received information about the South Richmond warehouse in early June. Numerous pianos were discovered inside, ranging from small uprights to concert grands.
“Pianos are much more than instruments that can convey music. They may have a deep family history dating back multiple generations,” said Hwang. “The precious memories and sentimental value each piano holds may far outweigh any monetary value."
Police hope publicizing the musical treasure trove will lead the instruments' owners to come forward.
"The owners may be beyond the Richmond area," Hwang noted.
