Body found in Richmond

UPDATE: 5:30 a.m.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Cpl. Frank Jang says the victim is well known to police.

He says the slaying does not appear gang related, but has offered few other details.

An autopsy is expected in the next few days.

Jang says the identity of the Richmond man won't be released until family members are notified.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been dispatched to Richmond to investigate a body discovered Thursday.

RCMP was called to the 16000 block of Dyke Road at 11 a.m. for a report of a body. Few details are being released, only that the victim is male.

IHIT has taken control of the investigation and will be working in partnership with the Richmond RCMP. Officers are spending the evening canvassing the area.
