There is a slim chance we will see snow at the lake level across the Okanagan Valley today, but those travelling on the Coquihalla Highway and Pennask Summit should expect sections of snowfall.
Environment Canada Forecaster Greg Pearce said snow will fall over higher terrain, but the valley bottom should be in the clear.
Early today, Enviornment Canada issued a special weather statement for Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon stating a potential for bands of heavier snow to develop.
"In the valley bottom it looks like the chances of getting any snow down to the lake level are pretty slim for this afternoon," he said.
Some snow may come later in the evening, but at higher elevations.
"Anyone going through the mountain passes or travelling toward the coast can expect to see snow on the Coquihalla Highway and Penask Summit," said Pearce.
Those areas could see five or 10 centimetres of snow.
“You could be driving along and it will be sunny and then you might get a heavy snow pallet shower that will last for half an hour,” he said.
Pearce said there is not too much to worry about for anyone living in the valley.

A special weather statement has been updated to include Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton.
The statement by Environment Canada has issued the alert for the Okanagan Valley due to localized heavy snowfall expected during the day and Sunday night.
"As the low approaches, the atmosphere will become increasingly unsettled and there is the potential for bands of heavier snow to develop," reads the statement.

A special weather statement for the potential of heavy snowfall has been issued for the Okanagan Connector and the Coquihalla Highway by Environment Canada on Sunday.
Potential for heavy snowfall is expected on Sunday and Monday between Hope to Merritt, Merritt to Kelowna and also Merritt to Kamloops.
"A low pressure system will spread precipitation across southern B.C. this morning,” reads the statement.
“As the low approaches, the atmosphere will become increasingly unsettled and there is the potential for bands of heavier snow to develop.”
Snow is expected to mostly occur this afternoon and into the evening but amounts will vary between locations.
Environment Canada says a few flurries this morning then 60 per cent chance of rain showers or wet flurries this afternoon.
