Shooting victim identified

UPDATE: 4:20 p.m.

The victim in a fatal shooting in Surrey on Friday has been identified as 23-year-old Pardip Brar of Delta.

Brar was known to police and has been linked to gun violence dating back to 2015. 

His death is believed to have been targeted and linked to gang violence in the Lower Mainland, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Police found Brar with gunshots wounds at 7 p.m. on Friday, after a report of shots fired in the 6500 block of 137A Street. He was transported to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Cpl. Frank Jang said investigators are asking for information related to a white SUV and a black sedan that were seen leaving the area after the shooting.

Those with information are asked to contact IHIT or CrimeStoppers.

A man was shot dead in Surrey Friday night in what's believed to be a targeted shooting.

Police say they responded to the 6500 block of 137A Street at 7 p.m. for reports of gun shots being fired, to find a man “suffering from injuries.”

The man later died from his injuries.

Police are canvassing the neighbourhood and speaking with witnesses, but police believe the parties were known to each other and it was a targeted incident.
