Snow buries the highways

A snowfall warning remains in effect for the North and Central Okanagan.

Snow came down hard across the Okanagan late Saturday night and all day Sunday making for treacherous road conditions.

Higher elevation highways are expecting quite a bit more snow overnight, up 30 centimetres is expected to fall on the Coquihalla.

The snow should ease off overnight and turn into showers by Monday afternoon at lower elevations, according to Environment Canada.

The Coquihalla is expecting 10 more centimetres of slushy snow during the day on Monday.

DriveBC recommends avoiding motor vehicle travel at this time.  

If you must drive remember to be extra cautious on the roadways.
