A 15-year-old girl was struck and killed on a Burnaby crosswalk, Wednesday.
The teen was hit by a northbound vehicle on Cariboo Road, south of Highway 1, shortly after 7 a.m. Paramedics couldn't save her.
Residents have expressed concern about the safety of the crosswalk, and it was the subject of a city review last year. The crosswalk is marked by overhead signs and road paint, but has no traffic lights.
Spokesman Doug Louie said the city is looking at potential safety enhancements to reduce speeds in the area.
Police believe the teen victim was an international student. Her name has not been released.
The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.
