BC Ferries wants to remind passengers that they are changing their smoking policy in the new year.
A smoke-free policy goes into effect on January 22, 2018, for terminals and on vessels.
That also includes those waiting in a ferry lineup. Meaning if you smoke you could be waiting for hours before you can light up.
BC Ferries will start with a soft approach first, handing out warnings and friendly reminders to butt out.
The ban doesn’t just apply to tobacco. Other substances including e-cigarettes will also be prohibited from being used on ferries and at terminals.
Staff is also prohibited from smoking on vessels.
