Fire tears through home

It took firefighters an hour to contain a massive house fire in Surrey Thursday night.

The blaze broke out in the two-storey home near 140th Street and 79th Avenue at about midnight.

Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the home.

After an hour of attacking the flames through the garage, firefighters were able to contain the fire, but remained on the scene putting out hotspots for a couple of hours afterwards.

No one was injured in the large fire.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
