Airlifted from serious crash

Police were on the scene of a serious crash in South Surrey early this morning

Just after midnight, RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of 24th Avenue and Croydon Drive.

Sgt. Duane Honeyman says it's believed there were life-threatening injuries involved.

CTV reports four people were taken to hospital, and one was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and taken to Vancouver General Hospital.

Traffic in the area is expected to be affected into this morning as officers continue their investigation.

The east and westbound lanes of 24th Avenue were closed between the Highway 99 overpass eastbound and 160th Street westbound. South and northbound traffic on Croydon Drive was also closed down.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
