Ferry stranded for hours

A BC Ferries vessel was stranded for hours, Monday, after a propeller issue.

An early morning Nanaimo to Tsawwassen run took nearly four hours and a tugboat was called in to help the Queen of Coquitlam back to the Departure Bay terminal.

BC Ferries says the vessel recently underwent repairs, but was having issued with its pitch propeller.

The problem forced sailings between Duke Point and Tsawwassen to be cancelled. Meanwhile, seven other routes were shut down because of high winds.

The vessel returned to service by 2 p.m.

Passengers were refunded and were provided free breakfast and beverages during the wait.
