UPDATE 7:50 a.m.

The snowfall blanketing Southern Interior highway passes is moving into the Okanagan Valley today.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the entire valley, warning of total amounts of 10 to 15 cm at valley bottom.

“The snow will be wet or mixed with rain in some valleys before turning to all snow later today,” the warning reads.

Snow is already falling and sticking to the ground in the North Okanagan.

The storm is expected to ease to a few flurries by midnight tonight.

ORIGINAL 6:10 a.m.

It's an ugly morning on B.C.'s mountain highways.

The Coquihalla Highway is closed in two places due to crashes as up to 30 centimetres of snow was forecast overnight by Environment Canada.

The route is closed southbound at Exit 250, Larson Hill, and at Exit 276, Comstock.

No estimated of time opening is available for either incident, DriveBC reports.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Wednesday, saying an arctic front will move across the Southern Interior, dumping snow ahead of it.

Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected for the Coquihalla, Okanagan Connector, and Hope to Princeton highway passes.

"For most communities in the Southwest Interior valleys, there is significant uncertainty with the precipitation type, whether rain or snow will fall," the statement said.

Highway cams show snow at higher elevations.
