A homeless camp went up in flames, Thursday, in Victoria's View Royal neighbourhood.
Propane tanks were exploding as crews arrived at the scene off Burnside Road and the Trans-Canada Highway, Fire Chief Paul Hurst told CTV.
It wasn't your “typical residential house where everything’s predictable,” he said.
“If you look around the site, we have 20-pound propane tanks, there were syringes, this whole site is contaminated."
Nobody was in the makeshift structure at the time of the fire.
Several people were seen fleeing the area, and police are investigating.
