Highway 3 reopens

Highway 3 has reopened, DriveBC reports.

UPDATE: 12:45 p.m.

Highway 3 will remain closed near the Alberta border into the afternoon, after a tentative opening time had been scheduled for 1:30 p.m by Drive B.C. 

The next update is expected at 2:30 p.m.

DriveBC reports a tentative opening of Highway 3 at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.

ORIGINAL: 9:50 a.m.

Highway 3 is closed near the Alberta border due to wildfire.

DriveBC reports the route is closed in both directions, from the junction with Highway 43 at Sparwood, B.C., to the border, a distance of about 20 kilometres.

The fire is burning near Coleman, Alta. 

There is currently no estimated time of reopening.
