Winter hits Highway 97C

The first hint of winter has popped up on Highway 97C, the Okanagan Connector.

A light dusting of snow has fallen in the Pennask Summit and Elkhart areas.

Snow can be seen along the sides of the road, but, as of yet, is not accumulating on the roadways themselves.

A weather statement issued by Environment Canada early this morning warns of some snow on the Okanagan Connector.

"A cold airmass associated with an upper low has caused freezing levels to plummet this week. Snow has been observed on the Okanagan Connector, Rogers Pass, Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass on several mornings this past week.

"The unstable nature of the airmass makes the timing and location of snowfall uncertain, however, significant accumulations are most likely over Kootenay Pass and Pennask Summit."
