Tour bus hits, 1 dead

UPDATE: 3:04 p.m.

Vancouver Police can confirm that the three tourists hit in yesterday’s collision in front of Canada Place were all related and visiting from Massachusetts.

A 49-year-old man died in the accident, an elderly man is still in hospital with serious injuries, and a 15-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing and there is no further information to share at this time.


UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.

Vancouver Police say one person is dead after an accident involving a tour bus in the city's downtown.

Police issued a news release saying that a 49-year-old man died on Sunday when the bus hit a parked vehicle.

Police say some other pedestrians around the parked vehicle were also hit by the bus and are in hospital.

Police say an elderly man suffered injuries described as serious while a 15-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

Police say the dead man and the two people injured were all tourists.

Police say the bus was travelling at a slow speed when it collided with the vehicle.


ORIGINAL: 12:40 p.m.

Four people are injured after a tour bus collided into a family early this afternoon in Vancouver.

B.C. Emergency Health Services say two people are in critical condition while another two are listed in serious condition in hospital.

Numerous reports say the bus packed with passengers parked by Canada Place started rolling and hit a family who were putting their bags into their car. 

According to a tweet from BC Emergency Health Services, two patients are in critical condition and two are in serious condition.

CTV Vancouver reports one woman was rescued from under the bus. First responders used wood to rescue another man who was also trapped.
