Fire decimates Loon Lake

The tiny community of Loon Lake was hit hard by recent wildfires.

The ground is barely cool, but residents of one tiny Cariboo community are vowing to rebuild.

On July 13, a wildfire roared through Loon Lake, destroying several buildings, including the fire hall.

So, the community has launched a Gofundme page to help rebuild the hall – and their lives.

“The full extent of the damage is unknown at this time, but we have confirmed that we lost the fire hall as well as multiple homes and cabins,” said a statement on the page.

“We are all grateful for the help that the volunteer firefighters in the area gave us and would like to give back to them as well as the surrounding area. This donation will help rebuild the fire hall and go toward rebuilding our community together.”
