DriveBC is reporting the highway has reopened to single lane alternating traffic north of Greenwood.

Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.

UPDATE 9:00 a.m.

The alternate route over Phoenix Mountain via Gibbs Creek Road remains open to passenger vehicles only, according to the Grand Forks RCMP. Large commercial vehicles will have to travel through the United States between the Midway and Danville border crossings.

Highway 3 is expected to remain completely closed until at least Friday afternoon.

ORIGINAL 7:15 a.m.

Highway 3 is closed between Grand Forks and Greenwood due to a mud slide, about 5 km east of Greenwood.

A driver at the scene at 6 a.m. was told by a police officer they expect the road to remain closed for at least a half a day. Alternate access between Grand Forks and Greenwood should be accessible via Phoenix and Gibbs Creek Roads.
