Border jumpers busted

UPDATE: 4:20 p.m.

Police have arrested two people who raced across the U.S.-Canada border on motorcycles.

RCMP say the suspects drove separate motorcycles at 1 p.m. through a ditch near the Aldergrove border crossing.

One was arrested right away, but the other managed to escape.

Police used a helicopter to track the suspect to Willowbrook Mall in Langley. He was arrested shortly after.

There is a large police presence this afternoon around the Willowbrook Shopping Centre in Langley.

RCMP in Langley are searching the mall for a man who jumped the border near the Aldergrove border crossing.

Shortly before 1 p.m., two men, on separate motorcycles, attempted to jump the border. One of the men was apprehended while the other was able to make his way north in Canada.

A border patrol helicopter initiated surveillance before turning it over to the RCMP's Air One, which followed the suspect to the shopping centre.

Latest information from police suggests the suspect is no longer in the mall.

The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team is assisting with the search.
