No foul play in death

UPDATE: Nov. 6

New Westminster Police say no foul play is suspected in the recent discovery of a body in a burning van.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit conducted an extensive investigation in collaboration with the New Westminster Fire Department and B.C. Coroners Service.

"After close examination of the evidence, the identity of the deceased adult male has been confirmed, and foul play has been ruled out," the police department said in a press release.

“We have notified the family and offered a number of support services, such as our Victim Assistance Unit,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sgt. Jeff Scott. “We are not in a position to comment any further, but foul play is not a factor.”
