13th murder of the year

Vancouver police investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the city's 13th murder of 2015.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police received multiple calls to 911 regarding shots fired in the mall parking lot on King Edward Avenue near Oak Street.

“Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man in the passengers seat of a white Toyota Camry clearly dead,” said Const. Brian Montague. “While it is still early in the investigation, the attack appears targeted.”

The area was busy with shoppers at the time and as a result several witnesses have been taken by bus to a VPD building to be interviewed. Many of those witnesses were clearly shaken by the incident.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the victim and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the VPD Major Crime Section or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
