An innocent bystander has been killed in Abbotsford after being caught in the violence of a targeted shooting.
Abbotsford Police say the incident happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday night (in the 3500 block of Promontory Court) in a quiet neighbourhood on the northwestern edge of the Fraser Valley city.
Officers say the 74-year-old man was standing outside his home when a targeted shooting occurred in the neighbouring driveway.
The victim died at the scene.
Police have not said who may have been the target of the attack, whether any suspects have been identified or if any arrests have been made.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case and says further details could be released today.
