A little town in the North Okanagan is showing it has a big heart.
Grindrod – 40 minutes north of Vernon – is inviting people to take part in Riverfront Pub's annual poker run, with the money raised this year going to help the residents of Rock Creek.
The devastating fire - that was believed to be human caused – destroyed 30 homes and several other structures.
The Ride for Rock Creek will take place Sept. 20 starting at 9:40 a.m.
“This will be a simple and fun run and hopefully together we can all make things a bit better for the residents of Rock Creek,” said the pub's Facebook page.
“In 2008, we lost almost everything in a fire, there were amazing people that stepped up and helped us through, it's the least we could do to try and help someone in a similar situation.”
