Rock Creek power restored

UPDATED: 2:40 P.M.

Fortis crews have been allowed into some surrounding areas to begin assessing damage.

Nicole Bogdanovic, corporate communications advisor with Fortis BC, said there has been extensive power pole damage to approximately 75 poles in the area.

"Because of the extent of that damage we don't have an estimated restoration time," Bogdanovic said.

The restoration of the Rock Creek power was prioritized due to the businesses in the area that can support the emergency responders with food and other supplies.

Power has been restored to 157 homes in Rock Creek this morning, after a wildfire cut power in the area yesterday.

There are still 1,189 homes that are without power, on Kettle Valley South Road and Kettle Valley Road, and in Christian Valley, Westbridge, Beaverdell and Bridesville.

Crews are currently assessing these areas that are without power to determine the feasibility of restoring power.
