The heavy winds this evening have brought smoke from the Lytton forest fire into the Okanagan Valley.
Castanet has received reports of smoky skies north of Penticton, and above Merritt, Peachland, Kelowna, Lake Country and Vernon. The now 700 hectare fire continues to burn and the Wildfire Management Branch says the fire is zero per cent contained.
The fire began Thursday morning, and the high winds caused it to grow rapidly. The cause of the fire is still unknown, yet it is suspected to be human-caused, as there was no lightning in the area.
