Pilot killed in plane crash

One man is dead after the plane he was piloting crashed into a field in Surrey Friday afternoon.

Police say they were called to a farmer's field south of Colebrook Road and north of Highway 99 shortly after 3 p.m.

Witnesses had seen the plane flying northwest, then turning to go east, when it went down.

Upon attendance, emergency responders discovered one adult male, believed to be the pilot.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police are not in a position to identify the male at this time.

Both the B.C. Coroners Service and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada have been advised of the incident.
