Evergreen Line reaches milestone

Construction on Metro Vancouver's Evergreen transit line reached a milestone this week with installation of the last segment of its elevated causeway in Coquitlam.

The last section was put in place on Pinetree Way.

Since construction began, 1,005 concrete segments have been installed.

The Evergreen Line project is now 60 per cent complete and is scheduled to open in fall 2016.

So far, the provincial government reports the elevated guideway is complete on Clarke and North roads and Pinetree Way in Cquitlam, the at-grade guideway is complete in Port Moody and station construction is well underway.

The bored tunnel is 50 per cent complete.

The Evergreen Line will connect the communities of Port Moody, Coquitlam and Burnaby via rapid transit, with a direct connection to the existing Millennium Line.

When the Evergreen Line opens, Metro Vancouver’s SkyTrain system will become the longest automated rapid transit system in Canada.
