Fatal crash on Hwy 1

One man is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 at Whatcom Road in Abbotsford.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.

According to witnesses, one of the vehicles involved was driving aggressively and made an unsafe lane change that contributed to the crash.

As a result, a vehicle entered the median portion of the highway and the lone occupant was ejected. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The man has since succumbed to his injuries.

The lone occupant of the second vehicle was transported to hospital.

Police, with the assistance of the coroner, are investigating.

RCMP remind motorists of the importance of wearing a seatbelt at all times.

The name of the deceased has not been released.
