Gunfire broke out in a Delta neighbourhood Friday night, leaving one man dead in what police are calling a targeted shooting.
The 24-year-old victim from Surrey was shot at a home in the 11800-block of 75A Avenue at around 8:20 p.m., according to Delta Police.
Investigators say the home is known to them and they will be speaking to people living there as well as neighbours in the area.
It remains unclear whether the victim was known to police, or if investigators have identified any suspects.
Neighbours told CTV News they heard what sounded like fireworks outside Saturday evening, then saw a vehicle driving away.
Officials say because the shooting is believed to be targeted, there is no risk to the public at this time.
Delta Police are expected to release more information sometime today.
Anyone with information about the victim, suspect or suspects, is asked to call Delta Police at 604-946-4411.
