The provinces Independent Investigations Office has been deployed to Abbotsford after an off-duty cop was involved in an accident Friday night.
According to police, a 14-year-old boy was hit by a car near the intersection of Mill Lake Road and West Bourquin around 6:45 p.m.
The boy sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The driver, who remained at the scene, has been identified as an officer with the Abbotsford Police Department.
In a release from the IIO, they say no other information will be provided as the investigation is still in its preliminary stages and there are privacy issues in relation to the young victim.
