Prison time for sex abuse

A 33-year-old Utah man has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for sexually abusing a pre-teen girl in BC.

Kevin Douglas Knowlton pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of child luring, sexual interference of a child under 16 years old, and making child pornography. He will receive six months credit for time served and will be deported back to the US following his incarceration.

According to CTV Vancouver, Knowlton flew to Surrey on multiple occasions to film and photograph his sexual encounters with the 12-year-old victim. He would stay in a hotel and the girl, who he met playing an online computer game in June 2013, would come meet him.

The Mormon man is said to be addicted to pornography, and underwent voluntary castration in the US before meeting his Canadian victim.

When the girl’s parents found out about the abuse, they reported it to police who arrested Knowlton at a Surrey hotel in February.
