Hard-earned degree

A recent immigrant to the United States from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Samuel Makiese Kala undertook a physically and mentally exhausting journey of full-time work and school to earn his college degree. Now, he and his loved ones are celebrating the major milestone of his graduation from Pasadena City College.
