Colin Basran (incumbent)
Kelowna Mayor

First and foremost, I am a husband to my wonderful wife, Leanne, and father to two amazing children. I'm a mediocre, but passionate hockey player and an avid fan. My spare time is packed with music and I'm addicted to a number of bands and genres. I'm also mildly obsessed with the local food and wine scene.

Kelowna is where I was born and raised, and the place I hope to always call 'home'. I've had the privilege of serving Kelowna as Mayor for the past four years and hope to do so for four more! I am proud that under my leadership Kelowna has continued to evolve as one of the best communities in the world to call home. We were named “Best place in Canada for Entrepreneurs” in 2016 and “Best Place in BC to Start a Small Business”. 2017 saw the best development year in our City’s history which enabled more diversity and affordability in housing, and we are on pace for the same this year.

In 2018, we were named one of the most fiscally responsible communities in BC and today, our City has one of the strongest local economies in the country. This is key for taxpayers. We continue to be one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, which produces both challenges and opportunities. I've met these challenges head-on; fighting hard for Kelowna residents. I've seized opportunities, motivating us to thrive as a community for generations to come. I’ve been at the forefront of protecting our beautiful natural environment, agricultural land, and lake while pushing to ensure all residents have a safe place to call home.

During my time as mayor, I've learned leading our city means doing what is right for our community as a whole, not only for one faction. I believe Kelowna should be a place for everyone, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or financial status. I’m proud of the diverse, accepting, and inclusive city we are becoming. Over the years, I’ve been unwavering in my vision for a strong Kelowna. A Kelowna that is safe for all residents and has a resilient, multi-sector economy that develops in a positive way, allowing our kids and grandkids to build their future here. If you believe in supporting this vision for Kelowna, I humbly ask for your vote on October 20th!
