RCMP look for man with a gun


Police are searching for a suspect after two women were allegedly robbed at gunpoint last night.

On June 19, shortly after midnight, the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery in a parking lot behind 160 Rutland Road North. A witness tells Castanet the incident happened at around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. Two women were standing in the parking lot when they were approached by an unknown man. The man brandished a handgun and demanded money before fleeing the scene on foot with a stolen purse. A Police Service Dog tracked the suspect for several blocks but he was not located.
The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Darker complexion
  • About 5'7" and 5'9" and 170 lbs.
  • Slim build
  • Scruffy, long facial hair
  • One witness did not see facial hair

A witness says the woman were shaken up, one suffered a few scrapes and bruises.
