Missing Oliver woman found with Cook

An Oliver woman who was reported missing in Williams Lake was located in Osoyoos on Monday morning, at the same time that Lloyd William Cook was arrested, according to sources.

Christal Chamberlain was reported missing on Jan. 31, the same date that Cook did not show up for his verdict in an ongoing trial in Prince George. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On Friday, Cook was found guilty in absentia of unlawful confinement and interference with a dead body in the death of his stepson.

He was found not guilty of the more serious offenses of criminal negligence  causing death and manslaughter.

Cook moved to Oliver where he was arrested several years after the boy’s death.

A South Okanagan man, who did not want to give his name, said Wednesday that Chamberlain was with Cook when he was picked up, and that she was fine with no marking or bruises.

He said he had no idea how they ended up together.

Cook is no longer a safety concern, according to the RCMP. He will be returned to Prince George for sentencing in the case.
