Opposed to border bill
Re. Pushback to border bill (Castanet, June 5)
Open letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Regarding bill C-2, we can debate the necessity of various tools being made available to law enforcement but a mechanism for oversight is mandatory if we want to avoid human rights violations.
This is just the "missing” budget debacle all over again. Canadians trusted you to be better with receipts than your predecessor. Like our math teachers said, "You must show your work."
Your mandate from Canadians will never include stripping our rights to freedom and privacy. If this bill passes as written, it will be deeply unpopular and your legacy will never eclipse its tarnish.
